What We Repair
Asphalt fails in predictable ways. We see the same five failures across Casper driveways and parking lots every spring:
- Linear cracks from freeze-thaw expansion
- Alligator cracking — the spider-web pattern that means the base is failing underneath
- Potholes caused by water infiltration and traffic
- Edge ravelling where the driveway meets dirt or grass
- Sunken sections from base settlement
Each one needs a different fix. We’ll diagnose the actual cause — not just the symptom — and tell you whether to crack-fill, patch, mill-and-overlay, or replace.
Crack Filling and Sealing
Cracks under 1/2 inch wide get hot rubberized crack sealant applied with a wand, leveled flush. This is the single highest-ROI maintenance item on an asphalt driveway: $0.50–$2.00 per linear foot of crack now prevents water infiltration that turns into a $2,000 patch in three years.
Cracks wider than 1/2 inch usually need saw-cut patching — we cut a clean rectangle around the damage, remove the failed asphalt and any contaminated base, replace the base, and patch with hot-mix.
Pothole Patching
For potholes, we don’t do throw-and-roll repairs that pop out by the next freeze. We do full-depth saw-cut patches: clean rectangular cut, remove all failed material, recompact base if needed, hot-mix asphalt, rolled and compacted. The patch lasts as long as the surrounding driveway.
Resurfacing (Mill-and-Overlay)
If a driveway or lot has cracking across more than about 30% of the surface but the base is still solid, a mill-and-overlay is the right fix. We grind off the top 1.5 to 2 inches of damaged asphalt and pour a fresh layer. The result is structurally and cosmetically a new surface, at roughly 60% of the cost of a full replacement.
Time matters with asphalt repair: a hairline crack in May becomes a 1-inch crack in October after one Wyoming summer of expansion-contraction. Filling cracks the season they appear is the cheapest insurance you can buy on your driveway.

Frequently Asked
Common Questions
How much does asphalt crack repair cost in Casper?
Crack sealing runs $0.50 to $2.00 per linear foot. Most residential driveways need $150 to $500 of crack work. Saw-cut patches start around $250 per patch depending on size and depth.
How long do asphalt repairs last?
A properly installed saw-cut patch lasts as long as the surrounding asphalt — 10 to 20 years. Crack sealing typically holds 3 to 5 years before needing reapplication.
Can asphalt repair be done in winter?
Cold-mix patching for emergency repairs can be done year-round, but it’s a temporary fix. Permanent hot-mix repair requires above-50°F temperatures — roughly mid-May through September in Casper.
How do I know if I need repair or full replacement?
If cracking covers less than 30% of the surface and the base is solid, repair is the right call. If you have widespread alligator cracking, sinking, or visible base failure, replacement is more cost-effective long-term. We’ll give you an honest assessment for free.
